As a Disney Cruise Line Castaway Club member, each guest receives a complimentary lanyard in their stateroom in which they can hold their Key to the World Card and show off their status level to fellow guests. The lanyards are based on club level, so each color represents a different level. If you have ever been on a Disney cruise, you are already a member and eligible to receive a lanyard! You receive a new lanyard every time you sail, so as someone who has sailed numerous times, I have drawers jammed-packed with lanyards.
In honor of Disney Cruise Line's 25th Anniversary, the company overhauled the design and color scheme of the Castaway Club and released a new, fresh set of lanyards for their members to help usher in the new Pearl Castaway Club level. Now, personally, I prefer the look and feel of the old ones (call me vintage), but once I saw the new ones, I immediately thought they would be the perfect luggage tags!
Below I guide you through what I used to make a luggage tag out of my Castaway Club lanyard as well as provide a printable for each Castaway Club level.
What You'll Need
I have included links below to the specific items I used to create my luggage tag.
Castaway Club Lanyard
8.5" x 11" Printer Paper
Castaway Club Luggage Tag File (scroll to bottom)
Scissors
Pen or Pencil
Following the expansion of the Castaway Club program to add Pearl, Disney Cruise Line released printable cards to represent each of the Castaway Club tiers. With my engineering magic, I took the backs of these cards and modified them to include the information you would normally find on a luggage tag. I created a file for each Castaway Club tier, and these are free to download below. Enjoy!
Instructions
Download the Castaway Club Luggage Tag pdf file associated with your level.
Print out the file on regular 8.5"x 11" printer paper. Verify sizing with reference square.
Cut out the luggage tag slips along the dotted lines with scissors.
Remove the card holder from the lanyard.
Fill out the luggage tag slip with your name and contact information.
Insert the tag slip into the cardholder.
Attach the wire ring cable or plastic worm loop through the hole.
Attach the luggage tag to your suitcase so it is ready to go the next time you travel for your Disney cruise!
Tip: You can repurpose the lanyard for other things! For example, I attached it to my employee ID badge so I could bring some Disney Cruise Line flair to work.
Check out my video below which walks through the same steps detailed above.
