How to Recover Missing PhotoPass Photos

It's a common occurrence - you get so caught up in the magic of meeting Mickey Mouse that you forget to scan your MagicBand on the way out, or perhaps after experiencing the thrill of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, you discover that someone else's ride photos have ended up in your Memory Maker!

You may be thinking these photos are now lost to the abyss, BUT there is actually a way to recover missing photos from your Walt Disney World trip. Now first, you want to make sure either your MagicBand, park ticket, or PhotoPass card is linked properly to your account as well as allow up to 24 hours after capture for photos to appear in your account.

If a photo is still not appearing in your gallery, you will then want to visit this link to contact Disney PhotoPass service or contact the Disney PhotoPass Guest support team by calling (407) 560-4300. They have the whole process streamlined online for recovering photos and has been a quick success every time I have personally used it, so I highly suggest this route. You can access the online form via the website, mobile device, or through the MyDisney Experience app.

First, select "missing photo" under the available options for "Please Help Me With:"

Disney PhotoPass Service landing page

Once selected, a form will automatically appear to request missing photo(s) by providing information regarding when and where the missing photos were taken. The type of information includes the date the photo(s) were taken, time, location, type of photo and based on the type, which character or attraction. By providing the most accurate and detailed information you can allows Disney PhotoPass to quickly pinpoint where to look.

Note: Disney PhotoPass can only locate photos taken within the past 45 days. Once you realize you are missing photos or you forgot to scan your band, I would file a report for a missing photo as soon as possible.

The other section is a free-form response where you provide as many details as possible for each Guest in the missing photo. This information can be how many people were in the photo, who was in the photo, any notable clothing or accessories that will be helpful in identifying yourselves. The form also gives you the option to upload an image of the people who are in the missing photo. An image from the same day will be helpful as everyone will most likely be in the same clothing, etc.

Pro Tip: I find I usually take a photo or video with my own device as well, so I check the exact time it was taken and add that into the description.

For example, while visiting Pete's Silly Slideshow, the photo box did not read my MagicBand correctly when I tapped in and my photos with Daisy Duck were not showing up in my gallery. When filling out the form I was able include the exact time based on my personal device photos, as well as upload a screenshot of my personal photos with Daisy Duck. I have included the blurb I used to fill out the form for reference.

Lastly, you will need to input your personal information at the bottom of the form so once Disney PhotoPass locates the missing photo(s) they can attach it to the correct account. Usually, the name and email attached to your My Disney Experience are enough for them to find the account. Once submitted, you will receive a confirmation email and should expect the missing photos to appear in 1-3 days based on my personal experience.
